I know I’ve mentioned Wicked on here before, but I don’t know if I’ve explained the level of obsession I have with this musical. By the fourth time seeing it I decided that four was just not enough and I would continue to go once a year (possibly solo) until either 1) I moved out of metro-NY, or 2) it left Broadway - sob sob.
So that was my game plan for this year even before my sister called to say she was coming to visit for a week and wondered if it was too late to get tickets to see Wicked (she has never gone but between me and a friend of hers that had also gone about 4-5 times so far - she was dying to go and see what all the fuss was about). Fortunately it’s been on long enough that getting decent seats 2 weeks in advance was not a problem. Especially compared to 5 years ago when I first wanted to go and we weren’t able to get tickets in the nosebleed section 3 months in advance.
So we went - and it was perhaps THE BEST time I’ve ever had watching it! Why, you ask? Mostly because of the audience. It seemed like the majority of the audience members were diehard fans like myself that had seen it multiple times but just keep coming back for more. The applause, laughter, and standing ovations were much louder and crazier than usual. I loved it. I can’t wait to go again in 2011!
