My Life

A twenty-something Hawaii transplant living it up on the East Coast for the past 10 years (Boston and Stamford, CT). This blog is to document my daily adventures and things that I find cool, uncool, hilarious, awe-inspiring, and annoying. Please feel free to email me at hawaiigurlinct@gmail.com.

  • Dear Ryan (aka an open letter to the hubster)

    Be afraid, be very afraid.

Considering that I get super obsessive over things I want (which fortunately has so far consisted of reasonable things such as a trip to Chicago, a fall jacket from Burberry, or dinner reservations at Per Se), the hubby has been very happy that my idea of having kids is in line with his, something FAR FAR in the future.  We’ve joked that he’s going to be in trouble the day I change my mind.

So needless to say, he was not overly estatic by my call today gushing about how I found out that not one but two of my best friends from college are expecting.  He was fine with them being pregnant, just not so fine with how happy I was that they were pregnant.

I’m still light-years away from being ready to be a mother (I don’t think I’m responsible enough to have a dog yet - cats are easy!) but I see glimpses of my resolve starting to falter as I become obsessed with the idea of getting my life closer to ”child-ready” status, meaning 1) having a job with normal work hours, or just a job that gets me home before 3 AM, 2) having a house that would fit a baby, and 3) having enough disposable income to take care of said baby.

So this clearly is still years in the future… just probably not decades.  I sense the hubby getting nervous.
